1. Views - Reimagined, Redesigned

1. Views - Reimagined, Redesigned

We are thrilled to announce a major update in Alchemy - New Views. Our team has been working hard to reimagine how Views are created. Our two main goals and project drivers were that:

  • Anyone should be able to create and manage Views in Alchemy with ease, no matter how skilled they are with the system
  • Lab Managers and Scientists should be able to design their data tables exactly how they want based on project needs, and structure or simplify complex data in an insightful way

As this is a large-scale project, we’ll be rolling it out in an iterative way within our BETA program. That way, our customers can test New Views and our Product team will be able to conduct further usability tests to make sure that we are on the right track.

This first release covers the following key improvements:

  • Simplified View Creation - from now on, you can create a View with only 2 clicks! No need to be familiar with the complex data structure, the only thing needed for creating a View is starting data - the leading data of your View which will be linked to other data, filtered, sorted and grouped in desired way.
  • Data Exploration - all data connections are now presented more clearly, making it easier to find all possible data to add to your View.
Besides, managing all columns used in a View is now more intuitive.
  • Pinned first column - the first column in the View will always be pinned to the left, which means that no matter how long is your View horizontally, the first column will alway stay sticky.

As mentioned above, New Views are accessible only in Beta. In order to try them out, please click:

And this is just the beginning! For the next iteration of improvements related to Views, we are preparing something even more interesting - users will be able to group View results by a specific column and use calculations for numeric fields inside those groups.
