Alchemy is a San Francisco-based, Bowery Capital and Uncork Capital-funded enterprise SaaS startup for specialty chemicals and materials sciences companies. From concept to chemistry, Alchemy powers the digital lab of the future.

The Alchemy platform integrates the features of disconnected, legacy lab software into suites of customized lab applications, so our customers can speed product development. We do this quickly and efficiently, with our “no-code” process automation platform, dynamically generating applications based on types of lab work, test methods, lab equipment and organizational structure. Our customers get digital best practices in 60 days per lab which help them bring new products to market faster and more cost effectively. 

Job Summary

Alchemy is looking for an experienced marketing generalist to build our marketing foundation as our Marketing Director. This role will span demand generation, strategic content creation,  and product marketing as well as sharpening and magnifying Alchemy’s overall brand strategy. You will be responsible for generating qualified leads (and accordingly real pipeline dollars) by creating and executing on key messages for our Ideal Customer Profiles and Target Buyers Personas, all of which will be consistent with our brand strategy and messaging. 

This position offers a unique opportunity to play a critical role in Alchemy’s success as it continues to grow 4x+ year on year. This position is best filled by someone with both a brand- and  company-building mindset who is excited about working closely with the CEO to determine how best to scale up Alchemy’s marketing motion, and inform its brand strategy and top of funnel activities. The ideal candidate is someone who can develop impactful strategies, has a gift for storytelling in a variety of mediums, has run successful account-based marketing campaigns, and who has the ambition and potential to run a cross-functional marketing team in the near future. Creativity, writing, analytical skills, energy and the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with a growing team are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Envision and execute strategy and marketing across a variety of mediums: corporate website, SEO/SEM, account-based advertising, email, LinkedIn,  webinars, and in-person conferences
  • Own content creation and distribution spanning product marketing, sales enablement collateral, customer testimonials, short and long-form thought leadership pieces and running ad units from conceptualization to execution
  • Support our account-based sales strategy with account-based marketing campaigns comprised of email, geo-fencing, retargeting and other high impact channels
  • Drive our in-person speaking and conference calendar and track the impact thereof
  • Manage to inbound lead gen targets, pipeline value creation and other OKRs
  • Collect and analyze marketing process metrics to continuously improve overarching strategy and underpinning tactics
  • Manage a full-time designer from day 1 as well as budget for additional resources
  • Work collaboratively with Alchemy Sales, Product, Customer Success and Technology teams as appropriate to successfully drive marketing activities
  • Work collaboratively with C-level leadership to inform go-to-market strategy and scale marketing across segments and geographies

Requirements

  • 6+ years experience marketing vertical software or SaaS with an account-based marketing motion
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding lead and pipeline contribution targets
  • Successful account-based marketing execution 
  • Experience with scientific software or strong personal interest in science and innovation
  • Highly self-motivated and an exceptional collaborator with design, sales, product and technology team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Loves learning and has an entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action
  • Bonus - ideal candidate would have been a chemistry major in college and is now working in marketing
